An Unforgettable Journey: Sierrah Acres Retirement Notice

As of March 1st, 2025, Sierrah Acres Equine Assisted Learning & Personal Development will be retiring and no longer offering client sessions. As I reflect on the past 12 years of this incredible journey and how Sierrah Acres came to be, enormous gratitude and pride fills my heart.

My Personal Story

Sierrah Acres originated when a door opened to embark upon a lifelong dream to one day have horses in my own backyard. As early as I can remember, I’ve always been drawn to the magnificence of the horse and how they unexplainably made me feel so good on the inside.

Once this deep yearning became a reality, what happened next developed quite organically. Day after day, spending time in the presence of the herd - watching, listening, and growing with my understanding of the horse’s true nature - became beyond eye-opening.

Realizing the depths of how horses live so comfortably, how they communicate so honestly, forgive and respond to one another, led to some huge life lessons of my own. Over time, I was able to learn more about myself than from any book, seminar, or course I had ever consumed. I learned to let go of my ego, admit to some hard truths, and accept what the horses were trying to teach me. This created positive change and I truly became a better and happier me!

It didn’t take long to realize that my passion and excitement for what is possible by this experience had to be shared with others!

Being a people person, an advocate for mental health, and having spent most of my life owning small businesses, I took the steps to become certified in this new career in a space that was rising in popularity. Sierrah Acres opened its doors.

As an Equine Assisted Learning & Personal Development Coach and Facilitator, guiding people of various ages and walks of life alongside the horse has been my full-time career for the past 12 years.

Witnessing the success and myriad of positive benefits, ‘ah-ha’ moments, tears, laughter, and peace-filled time spent at Sierrah Acres by our clients, has been the core reason to keep doing what we were doing. Guiding and supporting others to experience their own experience has always felt more like a gift than a job!

With Gratitude, Thanks, and Recognition

To our individual clients, couples, families, groups, and organizations — Thank you, doesn’t seem like enough. My sincere appreciation and awareness, for trusting and allowing us the opportunity to work with you, your loved ones and/or those you support.

To our remarkable volunteers, both past and present — You are such a unique and special breed! Without the support, hard work, and like-minded passion for horses and humans, Sierrah Acres simply would not have been able to accomplish what we did without you.  Heartfelt hugs and gratitude to you all.

To my family, my biggest fans — Always being there with your encouragement and support of my passion for Sierrah Acres. From the outdoor ground maintenance, grunt work, and keeping me on schedule, thank you to my husband and best friend, Joe. Also, to my daughter Alex, from day-one with your marketing ideas and skills creating and managing our website. Even in your busy world, you always made the time. Thank you for your love and dedication.

To our horses, Sierrah, Paris, and Patches — I understand verbal communication is not your ‘go-to’ language :) This recognition is for the people! We all thank you for just being you, in all of your unique and honest glory. Thank you for your patience, understanding, guidance, and gentle teachings. Your ability to help us see and feel the light has been life-altering. I promise to reward you with a lifetime of love and carrots!

What’s Next?

For any individuals and organizations — If you’d like to touch base sharing your thoughts, have comments, or questions, I’d love to hear from you!

Resources — If you are a recent Sierrah Acres client, or an inquiring new one, you are welcome to email me for a short list of referrals.  Although it’s always best to personalize your own research, Sierrah Acres has done a little digging too and has a few suggestions that you may find helpful.

In closing, I’m feeling blessed to be able to end this phenomenal life chapter on a high note and eager to explore new adventures that await!

With my deep understanding of horse behaviour and growing passion for Natural Horsemanship, this is likely where my next calling will continue to lead me.

Remembering always that horses are a prey animal and a very unique one at that. When we spend any amount of time with them, doing whatever we’re doing, keep in mind to view things from the horse’s perspective first. This will not only strengthen their trust and our relationship with them, but it will also feel so damn good at the same time!
